Star Conquest - Era I: The Cradle
The solar system is alive, and it doesn't wait for you.
Star Conquest is a streamlined, pausable real-time 4X set entirely in our solar system, drawn in a retro-future poster style. Every planet orbits for real: freighters fly actual trajectories, transfer windows open and close with planetary alignment, and a delivery from Callisto means something because you watched it cross half the system to arrive.
Build the economy. Colonies produce into stockpiles; convoys haul them home — cargo only counts when it lands. Populations grow toward each world's habitat cap, research takes real time, and every world is worth a different amount.
Survive the golden age of piracy. Three named clans raid every faction's shipping from armed havens. Hire escorts, commission corvettes, build orbital defense platforms — or burn a haven out and end that clan forever.
Play the powers. Two rival factions run the same economy you do. Sign non-aggression pacts, buy peace mid-war, sponsor joint strikes against the pirates — or raid, blockade, and take their worlds, and live with what it does to your name. Reputation is a currency: earn it protecting civilians, spend it on mercenaries and settlers, lose it through conquest.
Then year five comes. The probes past Pluto go silent. Civilian crews report lights beyond the heliopause. And the Swarm arrives — a wave of vessels that outguns anything humanity can build, attacking everyone, everywhere. Every human war goes quiet at once. Win before it lands, hold Earth through the long night, or break the wave itself. Three victories. One defeat.
